ADHD Counseling for Women in Worthington, Ohio
Meet with an ADHD therapist for in-person counseling in Columbus or online across Ohio
Life in Dublin offers a small-town charm that many find comforting. From the scenic trails along the Scioto River to the streets lined with quaint local shops, there are many opportunities for community and connection. But when you’re living with ADHD, the demands of daily life itself can feel overwhelming. You may struggle to manage your time and responsibilities effectively. You may find it challenging to stay organized and feel frustrated when things fall through the cracks.
Living with ADHD means living in a world that, in many ways, wasn’t made for you. As an ADHD therapist, I’ll help you find new ways to manage and structure your life that work for you, while encouraging you to cultivate greater self-compassion and confidence in yourself just the way you are. We will look for and build upon your strengths, rather than focusing solely on your challenges. I will always create a non-shaming environment where you can feel comfortable showing up as your authentic, ADHD self. This is your journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you at the pace that’s right for you.
Everyone else seems to make life look easy.
For as long as you can remember, you’ve had to hide how difficult it is to keep up with your day-to-day responsibilities. No one knows just how much you struggle to focus or complete projects at work, manage your time at home, or even return a text.
Because of this, you live in a constant state of feeling “not good enough,” like you’re always falling short in one area or another. This can’t help but flow over into your important relationships: fighting with your partner, friends feeling slighted, and responding in anger or frustration to your kids.
You might be noticing…
Paralyzing overwhelm, even with mundane or perceived “simple” tasks
Difficulty staying organized
Trouble with time management such as meeting deadlines, missing appointments, or arriving early or late
Persistent anxiety due to fear of messing up or forgetting something
A tendency to procrastinate if a task feels too difficult or you can’t do it perfectly
Trouble sleeping, making focus and concentration even more challenging
You’re tired of going in circles.
You know you’re not lazy or careless. In fact, you’re trying really hard, day in and day out—it just looks different than it does for others. You’re ready to release the fear of judgment and need for perfectionism so you can trust that you and your efforts really are good enough.
There’s a way to manage ADHD and lean into your natural strengths (you’ve got a lot of them!).
Living with ADHD means living in a world that, in many ways, wasn’t made for you. As an ADHD therapist, I’ll help you find new ways of managing and structuring your life that do work for you, all while encouraging you to cultivate a greater sense of self-compassion and confidence in yourself…just the way you are.
MY APPROACH TO ADHD THERAPY WOMEN
ADHD looks different for every woman, and therapy will too.
I’ll meet you where you are today, then we’ll work together to plot a path forward.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) presents differently for each person, especially women. Often, ADHD doesn’t show up like the stereotypical young boy who can’t sit still in class—in many cases, women have adapted for so long that the diagnosis is missed altogether. If you’re here wondering if you have ADHD or receiving a late diagnosis, please know it isn’t your fault.
In our work together, we’ll start by looking at how ADHD is showing up specifically for you, such as in your relationships, productivity, time management, or self-esteem. I’ll take the time to understand the whole picture of your life so I can best understand your needs and concerns. From there, we’ll develop a customized treatment plan that is geared toward your specific goals. Each session will be focused on those goals, and I’ll be here to support you in making changes to your lifestyle and structure, as well as exploring the deeper thoughts and beliefs you have about yourself and your ADHD.
In ADHD therapy for adult women, we’ll work on:
Understanding symptoms and how the ADHD brain works differently
Exploring underlying struggles contributing to your ADHD
Processing the unique ways you experience ADHD
Identifying and implementing ways to cope with ADHD

FAQs ABOUT ADHD THERAPY
-
For many years, ADHD research has focused on children, teens, and males, which has contributed to the misdiagnosis of many women. Since girls and women tend to be less physically “hyperactive” than males, their symptoms have often gone undiagnosed or untreated.
Signs of ADHD in women include:
Difficulties with time management or organization
Trouble focusing
“Zoning out” in conversations
Putting off or avoiding tasks
Feeling restless
Challenges in social settings
A tendency to hyper fixate for long periods of time on a single thing of interest
Overworking to avoid being seen as lazy
Difficulty making decisions
Forgetfulness

Absolutely. If you suspect you have ADHD, I will assess you to better understand your symptoms and struggles to determine if this is indeed what’s going on. Many women prefer to know so they can put a name to their struggles and make sense of it, and I would love to help you do that. Learn more about my in-person therapy practice.

Yes. I offer both in-person and online counseling. It depends on your comfort level and what is most convenient for you. If you decide to do therapy in-person but find there are times that online therapy would be easier, we can always change depending on your needs. You can choose whichever option fits your convenience and comfort level.

In your first hour-long session, I’ll ask you a series of questions that’ll help me get to know you. We’ll talk about the things that happened in your past, what you’re going through at present, and where you’d like to see yourself in the future. This information will be the foundation of the customized plan I’ll create for you.

The duration of time is up to you and will depend on your individual goals. We will meet weekly for 50 minutes each session. Some have found 8-16 sessions helpful to feel equipped to move on, while others may want to do deeper work and continue longer. Once goals are met, some prefer check-in appointments every now and then, but it's up to you whether you want to continue our sessions.
